Great Show

The Holiday Show at the Gallery was great! I got there one hour early to set up my table. I used a pretty runner over the black tablecloth to create the romantic look that I love. The prints were inside a decorative box and the necklaces were displayed on a pink mannequin. The cards were over fancy place mats (picture here).
The day started a little slow but got busy very quickly. I received great comments and a lot of complements on my art. I  really enjoyed the close contact with the people and be able to share my story. I have to say that the best moment of the show was when my nieces, nephews and relative surprised me with their visit. They came from Orlando to be with me. I want to thank you  Ms Eva and Mr Cayo for their support. After the show we got the kids and when to eat dinner all together. Priceless!!!

I am in a Gallery

I'm so happy to share with you that my paintings are now in the Carole Rosefelt's Gallery in Clearwater, FL. I don't know if you remember but she is my art teacher and in October she gave me the opportunity to show some paintings in her Gallery. That was when I did my first show, but now we have a monthly contract where I rent a space on the wall. Mrs. Carole arranged the paintings in a very beautiful way, she really takes that very seriously. And I have to say that I'm very proud of all of them. Another good thing is that as a member of the Gallery, I have the opportunity to participate of all of the shows. The next one is "Artzy Holiday Gift Day" on Sunday, December 4th  from noon to 4p.m. I'm going to be in front of my art wall and I will also have a table space. For this show I will have cards and necklaces with my paintings on them. I'm planning to make 4 new small paintings too!!. The whole idea of this particular show is to offer the public affordable gifts for the Holidays. I am blessed because with every show, with every opportunity I'm living my dream of a creative life, and that's amazing to me!!!!!

Art in the Park

We started the day at 6:00 a.m. to get ready for the show and took the road around 7:30 a.m. in direction to the Crystal Beach Park. We got there at 8:00 a.m. so we had plenty of time to find a good spot and to set up everything. What a beautiful day and windy!!! Well the wind kept up really busy....everything was falling down. The people started to come slowly but steady and I had very nice comments about my work like "different", "positive", "pretty, pretty girls". Some people took the time to even touch the paintings and some of them took my card. Others just grab a candy. I felt so proud of my girls and angels. Definitely, this show  was a great opportunity for me to promote my art and myself and I really had a great time talking to the people about my inspirations, techniques and more. The day past so fast !!! I have to say that this was a beautiful learning experience about shows in the park and what sells better. So I'm thinking for the next one  to have cards, jewelry, mini art and more!!!

Great Experience

My first Art Show was a great experience. My husband conference ends up early so we got there just on time. I had the opportunity to show my family the studio- gallery and my paintings on the wall ( with prices on them). They met my teacher and friends and enjoyed the snack too. A lot of people showed up to the show but even I did not make a sale the experience by itself meant a lot to me. I really felt great just being there sharing with other artists. I felt that I belong to that world and I learned too. And you know what? My teacher invited me to another show!!!! Art in the Park in Crystal Beach, Fl  this is tomorrow Sunday from 10 to 4pm. Well, it was today but because of the rain it's going to be tomorrow.
This show is different because I'm going to have my own space. As you imagine, I worked a lot this past two weeks. I had to make prints of the paintings, more business cards, a big sign and more art. I also tried to make greeting cards but had some problems so no cards for now. At the park they don't allow tents just umbrellas, tables, etc. My plan is to create a romantic ambience in my booth and I'm taking with me a table, couple of doors, a mannequin, a chair and a beautiful tablecloths that my mother in law made for the big table.
Everything is ready in my SUV for tomorrow. I'm really excited and my daughter too ( my helper)!!!!! I"ll be back with all the details.

First Art Show

I'm so exited because my art teacher Carole invited me to participate in her Autumn Show tomorrow. This is my first opportunity to show and sell my art (for real!). She asked me for a little fee and few of my paintings and she will keep them in her studio for a month after the show(good deal no?). The show is from 12 to 3 and of course I have something else this weekend (my husband's conferences). So I don't know yet how we are going to make it work but we will. I couldn't say no to this opportunity right?. As you can imagine, I was very busy this week and my lovely husband helped me a lot. He took pictures of all the paintings so I can save the images. I ordered my business cards with my art on them (so exited!). They are beautiful! I also, finished a new painting (bigger) just for the show. I know, because my life is not busy enough, but I had to do it.
Yesterday, I took the paintings to the studio and my teacher helped me to put wires on the back of them and we priced them too. It was great to share all the excitement previous to the show with her and the other artists. Tomorrow it's going to be a great day! Wish me luck!

Art Classes

I'm back in the classroom of the Dunedin Art Center, Fl. Every Monday I have the opportunity to send time with a wonderful teacher, Carole Rosefelt and a great group of ladies of different ages. This is an acrylic class of various levels and it's my second year so I work independently and she give me her kind opinion and advise which I love. The class for me it's a great time to create (3 hours) without thinking on anything else and with no interruptions, I just enjoy. Also, I'm able to learn from the other artists and their point of view. I really enjoy watching how other people paint and the  the techniques that they use. It's like going to therapy for me! So I love Mondays!!!! What about you? Are you taking any class? Do you want to learn something new?

Romantic Girls

Today, I want to show you my paintings. When I decided to paint girls and angels, I knew that I wanted to find my own style, to paint girls that reflect who I am. I also wanted to send a positive message with them. So I looked for inspiration in other artists that I admire, like Kelly Rae Roberts and Andrea Seiler. And I drew, drew and drew more. I tried different eyes, noses, mouths and faces until a girl suddenly appeared on my paper and I knew that was it. What  a special moment that was! From that day, I have been painting them more and more. They are the protagonists of my paintings. I like to call them "Romantic Girls" because that is what they look to me. What do you think?

My First Girl

Today I want to look back and tell you about my very first attempt to draw girls. I had very little experience  (I still don't have too much) painting with watercolors and making collages when I discovered Kelly"s book " Taking Flight" which I read and enjoyed a lot. She gave me the courage to start drawing girls and angels. Before I was painting from a basic model (fruits, flowers, etc.) or from pictures but never from my heart and soul. During that time I also started acrylic classes and had the fortune to meet a wonderful teacher that let me just play with the paint and encourage me to create and to let my imagination fly.

Here is a picture of my very first girl. I'm proud of this beginning. I'm also proud of me because I kept trying and improving my paintings every week until I found my own style later on. I call it "Romantic Girls" ( more on this coming soon). For now I just want to share more pictures with you about my beginnings and remind you and myself to keep enjoying the process, the moment that we are right now in our lives.

SORRY!!! I did it again, the post is not in the correct order.
I am taking little steps every day, as Kelly Rae said in her e-course, so I can reach my goals. So far I can say that I'm very proud of myself because I have accomplished  some of them: start a blog and organize materials and "studio" that is actually a desk in a corner of my breakfast ( photos coming soon). For now I just want to enjoy my time alone.

Back to School

My kids went back to school this week so I have mixed feelings about it. I'm happy for them (and for me too) but I'm going to miss them a lot. We had a great (and busy) summer: family visits, niece wedding, summer camps, play dates, trips, baseball, etc. So now that we are starting with the school routine it's time for me to, also, start working on my paintings ( I did not paint in the summer) and the creative business.

Well, as all you know posting is something new for me, I'm learning everyday. Today, I am having "technical " problems so this post is not in order. Sorry for the confusion, I hope you get the idea.

This is how I decided to display my Kelly's paintings in my house so I can enjoy them from my kitchen everyday. Love it!
Around six months later, I found my second Kelly Rae painting: "What is Calling You" at the local Mall.

My First Kelly Rae Roberts Painting

Today I want to share with you my first Kelly Rae Roberts painting: "LOVE", I founded it in a local gift shop.

About a year ago, I went to a local gift store and bought myself a beautiful painting ( print on canvas) that capture my attention and heart, the tittle: "LOVE". Several months later, I bought a book, the tittle: "Taking Flight" and then came to my mind the beautiful canvas that I had buy... Could be the same artist? Honestly, I did not remember her name at that moment, so I went home and look the back of the picture "Yes is the same girl" I said to myself. So from that moment, I started to search for her on line: Kelly Rae Roberts. She is such an inspiration for me, her art, her words, her soul.... amazing!

Now, I'm taking Kelly's  e-course "Flying Lessons" and I'm learning so much and making great friends and most important I'm doing!!!!
